Dog & Puppy Training
We recognize every dog and family situation to be unique. We devise a training program for each dog and handler that fits their individual situation. Our training methods are based on motivational principles. Our goal is to motivate the dog to learn and perform, to build confidence in both the dog and the handler through success with humane, consistent interactive training. Our knowledge of animal behavior and experience allow us to shape the dog’s behavior and enlist their willing participation in the training process. We offer basic through advanced programs.
We will carefully assess your dog’s temperament and your needs. We can stop unwanted behavior by conditioning appropriate behavior. We have helped dogs with behavioral problems like aggression, fearful behavior, reactivity, shyness, hyperactivity, and separation anxiety.
Giving your puppy the opportunity to socialize and learn about new experiences in a safe environment is important in guiding your puppy to be a well behaved dog. Addressing your puppy’s developmental deadlines: housetraining, socialization, bite inhibition, and preventing adolescent problems is of the highest priority. Start your puppy in the right direction and avoid many of the problems he may otherwise develop.
The executive program is designed for people that would prefer that the dog is trained in the home while they are not there. Their participation is required at times during the training. This program is designed to help dogs learn the basics: sit, down, come, stay, and walking on a leash and is sometimes appropriate for advanced and other behaviors.
Wouldn’t it be great if your dog could find your keys or your cell phone? Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and a natural desire to hunt. This program focuses on teaching you how to encourage and develop your dog’s natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise. It’s a great activity for your dog to have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy. Owners of dog reactive dogs are encouraged to hone this skill. Our positive, reward based program is a great bonding experience for you and your dog.
Canine Good Citizen Test Preparation
The Canine Good Citizen test was created by the American Kennel Club. The test consists of ten items that assess obedience, socialization, acceptance of handling, and confidence. This program is designed to prepare dog owners to not only pass the test, but also for their dogs to be good ambassadors in public. The program covers some advanced obedience as well as filling in any gaps the dog may have had in the socialization process.
